Message from Board Member:

Thanks for your interest in the Tell City-Troy Township School Board. I want you to know that I take my position on the school board very seriously, and I am on the school board for one reason: I care about our children and their education. I remind myself of that with every vote I make at the school board meetings. I don’t always make the right choice, but I try my best by ensuring that I have as many facts as possible, reading up on the material presented, and asking questions of many people.

I encourage your input to our educational system. Phone calls and letters are always welcome; however, attending a school board meeting is the best way to have your voice heard. We have a public input item on our agenda, and would love to hear your suggestions. Below are a couple of suggestions for your input:

·         If you are writing a letter, please sign it. Anonymous input is not reliable, and therefore, not considered. If you believe in what you are saying, then please sign your name.

·         If you have a complaint, the proper path it to contact the following in the order listed:

o   Employee with whom you have a disagreement (teacher, counselor, bus driver, etc.)

o   Building Principal

o   Superintendent

o   School Board

·         Please use my Tell City School Corporation email address (not Ivy Tech), and home phone number (not Ivy Tech) when contacting me. I can’t conduct school board business using Ivy Tech resources or time. I would like to talk to you while I am at work, but it would not be fair to my employer to expect them to pay me to conduct board business. Give me a call. I’d like to hear your commnets!

Sherri Flynn is the Director of the Ivy Tech Community College in Tell City. After promotions to Assistant Professor and later to Associate Professor, Sherri was appointed to her current position as the Site Director in 2007.  At the Tell City Center, she has focused on fostering a culture of quality education and community outreach, resulting in a variety of improvements to include a student growth rate of more than 250 percent, the approval of the Higher Learning Commission to add a degree in business administration, and the development of a testing center.

Immediately prior to joining Indiana’s most affordable college, Sherri worked as the School-to-Work Coordinator for Perry, Spencer, and Warrick Counties. A Gulf War Veteran, Sherri served our country for nearly 10 years as a Regular Officer (Captain) in the United States Air Force. Her assignments included Chief of Air Traffic Control Operations at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Michigan; Zweibrucken Air Base, Germany; and Bergstrom Air Force Base, TX; and Chief of Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems for Air Training Command at Randolph AFB, TX. Her numerous awards while serving included being a member of a 6-person team that received the Vice-President Al Gore National Award for Re-inventing Business in 1996.

A 1980 graduate of Tell City High School, Sherri holds an associate’s degree in mortuary science from Xaiver University, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Texas A&M University, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1997 with a master’s in business administration (MBA).
